Prime Minister Justin Trudeau strongly condemned the behaviour
displayed by some participants in the trucker convoy protests over the
weekend, as members of Parliament returned to work on Monday despite
downtown Ottawa remaining beset by the “freedom convoy.”
Trudeau said he and the government will not be intimidated by the
transport truck demonstration, now into its third full day, and
indicated the Liberals have no plans to engage with the demonstrators.
“Over the past few days, Canadians were shocked and frankly, disgusted
by the behavior displayed by some people protesting in our nation's
capital,” Trudeau said during a national address from the National
Capital Region.
“I want to be very clear, we are not intimidated by those who hurl
insults and abuse at small business workers, and steal food from the
homeless. We won't give in to those who fly racist flags. We won't cave
to those who engage in vandalism or dishonor the memory of our
veterans,” he said, referencing some of what’s transpired over the last few days.
“There is no place in our country for threats, violence, or hatred, so
to those responsible for this behavior: it needs to stop,” Trudeau said.
The prime minister’s comments didn’t go over favorably with the
Conservatives— some of whom took part in the protest—saying that the
truckers who have seized national attention and are still outside
honking their horns, deserve to be listened to.
“Contrary to some, there are thousands of passionate, patriotic, and
peaceful Canadians on the Hill right now who just want to be heard. Will
the prime minister extend and olive branch? And will he listen?,” asked
Deputy Conservative Leader Candice Bergen in the House, after meeting
with truckers Sunday night.

just at the gas station this morning here in North Dakota , a guy in
front of me mid 50's looked like he was drunk and was about to faint. I
asked him if he was okay he said he was having a hard time breathing and
i asked him if he was sick and he said no.. I don't think so and I was
like well do you need a doctor ? He said he was just at the doctor 3
days before and got the covid vaccine and said he has been having
trouble breathing since. The attendant and me watched him walk back out
to his truck he stood there holding the door and just collapsed . we
called 911 and the ambulance picked him up. I don't know if he died or
have a follow up but it's happening. It literally felt like the start of
a zombie apocalypse movie ."

US Truckers Issue Devastating Warning To Biden On Unlawful Shot Mandate
An estimated 30,000 truckers that deliver goods and
services between the US/Canada border have not yet submitted their
vaccination paperwork. Beginning January 15, truckers will be required
to show proof of vaccination upon entering Canada. The same mandate for
truckers entering the United States from Canada goes into effect on
January 22.
When the coronavirus pandemic began nearly two years
ago, the Trump administration made land/border crossings essential.
However, the Biden administration's mandate issued by the Department of
Homeland Security trumps the former president's.
Mike Milliam, the President of Private Motor Truck Council of Canada, told Lynnwood Times that the mandate will add to the shortages we are already experiencing and will cause significant long-lasting damage.
"70
percent of the 700 billion in trade between Canada and the U.S. is
moved by truck," Milliam said. "This will have a dramatic effect on
supplies and services reaching their destination and getting in the
hands of those who need them. One needs to look no further than the
recent U.K. fuel shortage, where the military had to be brought in to
deliver fuel as a result of a lack of truck drivers. We are already
seeing shortages, if these shortages reach critical levels on items such
as fuel, food, blood medicine or medical supplies, we will see real,
long-lasting damage."
Truckers across Canada are organizing a "Convoy to End Mandates".
On
January 23rd, they will begin a "slow roll", from as many border points
as possible, to slow down major road transportation routes across the
Country.
Truckers, and all others, are invited to join the convoy, to
send a message to the Government, that forced vaccinations will not be
tolerated. As of January 15th, Trudeau has mandated that all truckers
crossing the border must be vaccinated.
Similar mandates are already
causing problems in Health Care systems, air transportation, and other
sectors. This latest action will create major supply problems for many
products Canadians rely on.
The time has come to show Ottawa, and the
Provinces, that we are not going to allow Government to continue to
slowly squeeze Canadians into giving up their God-given - and
Constitutionally protected - Rights and Freedoms.

Supermarkets Report Food Shortages After Canada Imposes Trucker Vax Mandate
Overwhelmed
supply chains and truck driver shortages worsened when Canada imposed
new border mandates prohibiting unvaccinated American truckers. With low
vaccination rates among US drivers, Canadian supermarkets are already
reporting rising food inflation and shortages of certain products,
according to Bloomberg.
Canada's
vaccine mandate for truckers came into effect on Saturday. The new rule
requires US truckers to be vaccinated to cross the border. We warned
earlier this week such a mandate would have "consequences."
The vaccine mandate has exacerbated the shortage of truck drivers
and made wait times at border crossings even longer. Eighty percent of
trade between the US and Canada is transited by truck. America exports
about 90% of Canada's fruits and vegetables during the winter season. As
shipments decline because only about half of US truck drivers are
vaccinated, grocery stores report shortages.
"We're
seeing shortages," said Gary Sands, senior vice president of the
Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers. "We're hearing from members
they're going into some stores where there's no oranges or bananas.'"
The
main concern is the mandate could create a domino effect and ripple
through the already stressed supply chain. Logistical disruptions have
been a significant source of soaring inflation. According to North
American Produce Buyers, the cost of sending a truckload of fresh
produce from Southern California to Canada is now $9,500, up
from $7,000. That means companies are paying more for freight and will
pass on costs to consumers.
Given the drop in eligible truckers,
products bound for Canada will build in US warehouses with no place to
go until new drivers are seen.
The situation will only worsen on
Jan. 22 when the US begins imposing its vaccine mandate on Canadian
truckers. The Canadian Trucking Association warned the mandate would
sideline up to 16,000 truckers.
Canadian truck drivers are
furious with the US decision and have blocked the highway near the
US-Manitoba international border to protest the new mandates. Videos
posted on social media show the chaos playing out on the other side of
the border.
