A book that should be widely read! (With English, Chinese and Japanese texts)
This
book is written in a very easy-to-understand manner to be widely read
by young people and women who will be giving birth to children in the
future. The book also covers many important topics overlooked in
preceding nuclear power related books, making it definitely a worthwhile
read. The author has been suffering from electromagnetic
hypersensitivity due to a medical accident and has some physical
problems. In spite of that, she wrote the book with a sense of mission,
which reminds us strongly of the words by the other author, the
prominent Chernobyl medical scientist Dr. Bandazhevsky, "We must do our
best to preserve life on Earth."
心ある若い人たち、子を産む女性たちにも広く読んでもらいたいとあるだけに、とても分かり易く書かれています。 また、重要でありながらも、今までの原発本では書き落とされてきたような事も色々と網羅されており、一読の価値ありと観ました。 著者は医療事故から電磁波過敏症を発症し、頭痛等に責め苛まれながらも、使命感から命を削るが如くに書かれただけあって、共著者・バンダジェフスキー博士の言葉：We

I would like to express my sincere
gratitude to you for inviting me to participate in eventsdedicatedtoInternationalHumanRightsDayinParisonDecember10.
From this high tribune, I
would like to draw the attention of the world community topeoplewhohaveturnedouttobevictims
ofradiationexposureasaresultoftheChernobyl NuclearPowerPlantaccident.
There are a lot of these
people, much more than statistically registered. Many of them donot even know that their life problems,
health problems are associated with radiationexposure. In many cases, their rights to protect their health are
grossly violated. In theRepublic of
Belarus, the authorities refuse to recognize in full the real problem of ahumanitariancatastrophe,andimpedetheconductofobjectivescientificresearch.
Forover30years,Ihavebeenstudyingtheseconsequences;atthebeginningitwasinmyhomecountry-theRepublicofBelarus,andtheninUkraine.Backin1990,attheinvitationoftheGovernmentofBelarus,IcametothecityofGomel,thecapitaloftheradiation
areas, to found and organize Gomel State Medical Institute (now a University).ItsestablishmentarosefromtheneedformedicalpersonnelinareasoftheRepublicofBelarusmostaffectedbytheChernobylnuclearpowerplantaccident,aswellasthenecessity forscientificresearchtostudy
themedicalconsequencesoftheChernobylcatastropheand waysto overcomethem.
Together with my colleagues
and students, we created, in a short period of time, a fullyequipped center for the training of
qualified medical personnel, carried out a number ofvery important scientific studies that allowed us to draw a
conclusion about the negativeimpact
of radiation agents of Chernobyl origin on human health. In our work, we paid
thegreatestattentiontochildrenlivingintheaffectedareas.
It was they who were found to
have serious pathological changes on the part of vitalorgansassociatedwithradiationexposure.

I could not remain silent, and in
1993 I officially turned to the Belarusian Governmentwith information about a serious humanitarian disaster affecting
not only the liquidatorsof the
accident, but also the population living in areas contaminated with radioactiveagentsasa resultoftheChernobyl NuclearPowerPlantaccident.
I asked you to pay attention
to the fact that people in the Chernobyl regions suffer fromconstant radiation exposure, I demanded
that protective measures be taken and that thesepeopleshouldbeprovidedwiththenecessarysocialandmedicalassistance.
We began to inform the
society of Belarus and the international community about this atscientificconferences,throughthemedia,publicationofscientificpapers,videomessages.
In 1999, a documentary film "The
Chernobyl Heart" was made. The film reflects thescientificactivitiesofGomelMedicalInstitutewithregardtothestudy
ofmedicalconsequencesoftheaccident
atthe ChernobylNuclear PowerPlant.
Belarusian state
functionaries tried to silence me and threatened. On July 13, 1999, I wasunexpectedlyarrested.
As I learned, the reason for this was
a letter to the security agencies of Belarus, in which Iwas accused of organizing a putsch in Belarus. When this
slander was not confirmed, theBelarusian
authorities began to accuse me of corruption, using techniques of intimidationof imaginary witnesses. The Military
Collegium of the Supreme Court of the Republic ofBelarus sentenced me to 8 years in prison in 2001. While I was
there, I continued myscientific
analysis of the results of previous research. Some elements of this work arereflected in abook "Philosophy ofMy
Life, Prison Diary", which waspublishedinFrancein2006.
Dear friends, it is a great honor for
me to be awarded the title of Honorary Citizen ofParis,whichIreceivedwhileIwasinprison.

organizations of France and many countries of theworld,Imanagedtosurviveinprisonconditionsandcontinuemyscientificandhumanitarian
activities in the areas suffering from the consequences of the ChernobylNuclearPowerPlantaccident.
Unfortunately,IcannotliveandworkdirectlyinBelarus,whichtheBelarusianauthoritiesforcedme to leave in 2006.
While in exile, outside the
Republic of Belarus, I continue my work to protect the healthand life of people - victims of the
Chernobyl disaster. Together with my colleagues andassociates, we established in Ukraine in 2009 a Coordination
Analytical Center "Ecologyand
Health", the purpose of which is to provide legal and medical assistance
to thepopulation of Ukraine and
Belarus suffering from the consequences of the accident at theChernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, as well as
to analyze the impact of these consequencesontheecologicalanddemographicsituation.
This organization initiated a
number of large social and medical projects of the EuropeanUnion and France, aimed at protecting the
health and life of people living near theChernobyl
Exclusion Zone. Scientific analysis of the results of these projects shows
thereare serious health problems in
children and adults 35 years after the Chernobyl tragedy,that lead to disability and lethal
outcomes.It points to distant
adverse consequences ofthis
humanitarian catastrophe. These people are victims of radiation exposure, they
needthe social and medical
assistance, protection of their rights to health and freedom to talkaboutit.
I call onthe internationalcommunitytoprovidethemwiththisassistance.
I would like to note that
radioactive agents of Chernobyl origin and not only (as anexample,Fukushima)arecurrently spreadingwithaircurrents,water,foodofanimalandvegetable origin, wood over great distances from the
accident site. In this regard, thevictimsofanucleardisastercanbenotonlyresidentsoftheofficiallyrecognizedaffected
areas, but also people who are not even aware of the radiation hazard thatthreatenstheirhealthandlife.
