Japanese Reporter Missing in Syria

The article on Japanese journalist Jyumpei Yasuda who has been allegedly held hostage in Syria was withdrawn by Reporters Without Borders 6 days later.

However, the original article was covered only by a limited media in Japan such as Mainichi (Mr. Yasuda was formerly a newspaper journalist at Shinano Mainichi Newspaper) and strangely, the withdrawal of the original article was covered widely including NHK, Nikkei, etc...

In addition, the Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary, Suga commented, "Japanese government has been dealing with this issue at its best," but looking back the incident of Kenji Goto, it is quite a worrysome situation.  In this regard, I believe that the mere fact that Reporters without Borders covered the issue of Jyumpei Yasuda was meaningful.  I truly hope for the safe return of Jyumpei Yasuda.

RSF withdraws press release about Jumpei Yasuda

Published on Monday 28 December 2015.
Reporters Without Borders (RSF) issued a press release on 22 December about Jumpei Yasuda, a Japanese journalist held hostage in Syria since July. The release was not drafted according to normal procedure and was not sufficiently verified. It has therefore been withdrawn pending fuller information. We ask Yasuda’s family and friends, and the families of other hostages in Syria, to accept our apologies.

Japanese journalist in danger, RSF calls for his immediate release

Published on Tuesday 22 December 2015.
Reporters Without Borders (RSF) calls on the Japanese government to do everything possible to obtain the release of Jumpei Yasuda, a Japanese freelance journalist who was kidnapped in Syria in July and who is still being held hostage by an armed group.

According to the information obtained yesterday by RSF, those holding Yasuda have started a countdown for the payment of a ransom, failing which they are threatening to execute him or sell him to another terrorist group.

Yasuda was kidnapped by an armed group in an area controlled by the Al-Nusra Front a few hours after crossing the border into Syria in early July. The stories he had wanted to cover included Islamic State’s execution of his friend and fellow Japanese journalist Kenji Goto in January.

RSF urges the Japanese government to act quickly. According to their obligations under international law – the Geneva Conventions and their additional protocols, UN Security Council Resolution 1738 on the safety of journalists (adopted in 2006) and a UN General Assembly resolution in 2013 – governments are responsible for the safety of journalists and must take active measures to protect and free them.

We are very concerned about Jumpei Yasuda’s fate and we call on the Japanese government to do what is needed to save this journalist,” said Benjamin Ismaïl, the head of RSF’s Asia-Pacific desk. “We also urge all parties to this conflict to respect the media’s work and to stop taking journalists hostage for political or financial purposes.

A total of 54 journalists are currently held hostage worldwide, 26 of them in Syria. The world’s most dangerous country for media personnel, Syria is ranked 177th out of 180 countries in the 2015 Reporters Without Borders press freedom index.

Sendai NPP in danger! Before it gets too late...

Mari Takenouchi explainig the danger at Sendai Nuclear Power Plant and other nuclear plants in Japan

Sendai Nuclear Power Plant is to be restarted by the decision of Japanese government, which could be called as a historical decision that ignores the future lives of the people.

Sendai is to be restarted in 2015, but as I wrote in Question 3, it has numerous faults and there was even a whistle blower who confesssed that many changed the sample of boring cores of the site.  (The ground of Sendai NPP is not solid enough so many people exchanged the samples to go ahead with the construction.)

Former professor of Wako University, Mr. Sunao Ogose, a geologist who pointed out this issue, was later criminally accused by a member of Liberal Democratic Party.

I received a letter from Mr. Ogose who is over 90 years old now on November 17, 2014.

Mr. Ogose is deploring the fact that Sendai NPP is to be restarted without these important facts known widely...He also deplores the insufficient effort by anti-nuclear groups!

Dear all, please disseminate the article below!

Sendai Nuclear Power Plant issue is covered in the following of my blog.

Former professor of Wako University, Mr. Sunao Ogose was also criminally accused for revealing the facts of Sendai Nuclear Power Plant scandal (intentious exchange of boring core samples) !

 Mr. Sunao Ogose, anti-nuke geologist
He predicted Great Hanshin Earthquake (1995) and supported a lawsuit against the construction of Rokko Liner in Kobe before the earthquake.  He also predicted Niigata-Oki Earthquake which brought more than 3000 damages to Kashiwazaki Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant.  In 1970s, he gave a warning to Sendai Nuclear Power Plant, which is now decided to be restarted by the government.

Extract and Summary of Mr. Ogose's work, "Document on Development and Pollution Studies, Vol IV" (1982)

Exchange of Boring Core Samples of Sendai Nuclear Power Plant Before the Construction!

"Wierd...so strange...See?  This easily breaks off like this.  The ground here has countless faults and cracks vertically and horizontally like a wooden mosaic work.  The layer here is the same layer as the ground rock foundation of the Sendai nuclear power plant.  However, Kyushu Electric Company talks as if there is no problem..."

This was the word of  a geologist, Mr. Sunao Ogose who was invited to investigate the foundation of Sendai Nuclear Power Plant on December 13, 1975.

Then on the very same day, Mr. Kimio Nakano (farmer in Sendai City, Yoseda Town) exposed that HE HAD EXCHANGED THE BORING CORE SAMPLE OF SENDAI NPP for the subcontractor of Kyushu Electric Company!

On the following day, the residents held a press conference and this became a major news in local papers.  Kyushu Electric Company tried to deny the fact, but Mr. Nakano refuted as, "I did it and others did it.  As a proof, I polished a left-over borig core and put it as a decorative ornament in my living room."

This issue was discussed in the Committee of Scientific Promotion Measures in the Upper House on November 21, 1977, but Kyushu Electric Company and Tatsuo Yamazaki, a professor of Kyushu University, deluded this serious fact saying, "Even though there was some exchange, there would have been no impact on the decision of NPP construction."

Mr. Ogose Criminally Accused by a Local Right Winger

Regarding the above fact of the whistle blower, I explained I could geologically give proof of the boring core exchange.

Then a local right winger called Mr. Shozo Inoue (so called Fukuda Faction of LDP member) criminally accused me for infringement of trust and obstruction of business against Kyushu Electric Company through the Supreme Prosecutors' Office.

Letter of accusation dated on January 29th, 1976 was filed in Supreme Prosecutors' Office and was forwarded to Tokyo Local Prosecutors' Office, and I was investigated by the prosecutors for 3 times.
(Note: Takenouchi was also criminally accused by ETHOS on the same day of 2014!)

However, I was not disseminating something untrue or infringed the trust of Kyushu Electric intentionally or obstructed its business.

Moreover, the exchange of boring core is an irrefutable fact which was also revealed in the Upper House, so the accusation by Mr. Shozo Inoue was not successful.

However, Mr. Inoue was disseminating the following as contrary to the fact,
"Mr. Ogose explained to the prosecutor that the core exchange was not a fact and admitted that his action was excessive and he had no intention to fight legally with Mr. Inoue."

Furthermore, Mr. Inoue was slandering Mr. Ogose saying, "He is a demagogue scholar who is working for a nameless private university."

Mr. Inoue was also actively involved in election campaign supporting for LDP candidate, but he has the records of arrest and accusation for violating the Election Law.

He is also dubbed as "The Accuser" since he was known for accusing inconvenient people for LDP with various reasons.  A famous anti-nuclear lecturer, Mr. Sanshiro Kume was also criminally accused by Mr. Inoue.

Crime of Government Sided Scholar: A Professor Emeritus of Tokyo Univeristy Who Tried to Put Crime of Homicide on an Innocent Citizen

Behind the cause of "Seeking for the truth,"pretending that they had been studying for their expertise, there are many scholars who can be just regarded as puppet of the state power sacrificing the truth of the very expertise.

It has been revealed that there are MANY examples where these scholars sacrifice honest residents and citizens who are struggling for anti-development/pullution/harmful drugs.

In this regard, there is no other way than pursuing the untruth of government-puppet scholars in the struggle of anti-nuclear/pullution/harmful drugs.

I need to emphasize here that especially in 1st grade state-owned universities, there are many government-puppet evil scholars who would even give helping hands to the police and judicial power, driving innocent citizens into false crimes.

The late Mr. Tanemoto Furuhata, a Tokyo Univeristy Professor Emeritus who used to be the dicrector of Science Police Institute is known to be the most evil one until today.

Having involved in the investigation and scientific judgement on the side of police and the prosecutor in the case of Hirosaki, Shimada, Zaidagawa (they were revealed as false accusation after all), Mr. Furuhata lied that there were evidence of crimes so that innocent citizens were accused as murderers.

Including the Sendai NPP issue, I gave 3 questions to Ministry of Justice.  On August1, there was an answer from Ministry of Justice saying that they cannot answer the questions.

Please take a look at the 3 very important questions.

1. There was no investigation by police/prosecutor on TEPCO executives in spite of criminal accusation by residents.  However, as for me, a single mother who had visited IAEA regarding nuclear and earthquake issue before the Fukushima accident, and called for evacuation of kids saying through twitter, "health hazards such as many thyroid cancer or even leukemia are observed.  ETHOS is a human experiment" was actually investigated by Fukushima police and prosecutor who came all the way to Okinawa.  I eventually got deferred indictment and foreign media took up this case as a shoking news.  Isn't this an unfair judicial treatment?

2. In 1996, Monju Nishimura Case took place, in which Mr. Shigeo Nishimura, in-house investigator of Monju Fast Breeder Reactor accident comitted a suicide.  However, X-ray photoes and medical records showed that he did not jump off from the building and instead was killed, which was testified by the doctor in charge along with other forensic doctors.  Surprizingly, the lawyer who was in charge of this incident took the case as civil case in stead of a criminal case, ignoring the high possibility of homicide.  The police says that they would not make any move if the lawyer acted that way.  I am quite shocked at the treatment of this case.  Isn't it necessary to reinvestigate this case?

3. In December 1975, former Wako University professor Sunao Ogose made a research on the soil of Sendai Nuclear Power Plant premise, and found out countless number of faults and cracks in the same layer of soil, which showed inappropriateness of building a nuclear power plant in that site.  Then a local farmer who worked at the boring core site confessed that he switched the core with firmer soil. After Mr. Ogose announced this whistle blower's statement, he was criminally accused by a LDP related right winger and the Supreme Prosecutors' Office took up the case.  Then the case was taken by Tokyo prosecutors' office and Mr. Ogose was investigated for 3 times and eventully non-indicted.  To begin with, Kyushu Electric Company who ordered switching the cores should be the one to be criminlly accused and what had happened seems to be harassement against anti-nuclear residents and scholars.  Sendai Nuclear power plant is said to be the one which is closest to the restart.  Isn't it necessary to reinvestigate this case?

Important! Bandazhevsky's Latest Studies

Dr. Bandazhevsky's latest studies are here!

The latest paper refers to the elevated level of mortality rate among people living in contaminated areas.  (ETHOS which let people to stay in contaminated areas is truly nonsense!)

One of the cause is metabolism disturbance leading to cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, chronical miscarriages, congenital malformation, etc.

Dr. Bandazhevsky mentioned that particular attention should be paid to the lealth of boys aged 12-17 years.  Yes, they are experiencing the 2nd generation in Chernobyl...though in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, even health impacts among 2nd and 3rd generations have been denied till today....

Dr. Bandazhevsky continued, "Pathologies found in the adolescent period are the basis for the occurence of serious diseases leading to death in adults." (from the Conclusions of "Chernobyl: Prospects for the Second Generation")

("Chernobyl: Prospects for the Second Generation"のConclusionより)

Message to Mr. Abe from Ms. Shimabukuro, Okinawan Grandmother

85 year old legendry Henoko Gramdmother, Ms. Shimabukuro was carried by an ambulance after each of her finger on the dump truck mirror was taken away by a riot police and fell off to the ground in front of the Camp Shwab where a new US Base is being constructed.  She was at one time unconscious and no police man was trying to protect her when she was falling with her head against the concrete ground, which made her unconscious.  An ambulance was called only by the citizens and police were only taking pictures of her on the ground...this became only a local news and never covered by any national news.

The series of photos were taken by an Okinawan photographer/Haiku poet, Mr. Tomoyuki Toyosato.

Video of Ms. Fumiko Shimabukuro (Sep 2014)

The following is the famous Okinawan 85 year old grandmother, Ms. Fumiko Shimabukuro. (middle)

Ms. Yoshiko Uema on the right said, "Women above 65 years old should fight in the frontline at Henoko, since they finished child rearing..."

To my surprise, both of them had concussion facing against the mobile police and were carried by the ambulance  late 2014 in front of Camp Shwab where new Henoko US base is to be constructed.

Luckily, their injuries were not serious, but both of them at one time lost their consciouness by hitting their heads!  Amazingly, this news did not become national news and was covered only locally... the article in Okinawa Times is at the end of this page.

On March 9th, I visited the sit-in tents in front of Camp Shwab near the new Henoko US base and listened to the story by Ms. Fumiko Shimabukuro, 85 year old Okinawan famous grandmother.  Please read the following message to Mr. Abe.

Before the war was ended, Japanese people used to say, "Korean, Taiwanese, Uchina (local Okinawan people)"

We have been discriminated though we are the same human beings with Japanese.

However, Okinawan women were fighting quite strongly.

Women are strong.  Because they have to give birth to children and to rear the children.

Adults can stand hunger for 2 or 3 days, but children are different.

During war time, we used to look for food in mountains.

We were all hungry without enough food and even water.  But Japanese army took away all the food such as potatoes, rice and sugar.

What was left for us was only waterly pumpkin.  We boiled the pumpkin with water, and still it was a feast for us.

But Japanese soldiers never protected us though they killed us.

The army had the power and did all they wanted.  The local police could not say a ward to the army.

Soldiers stayed in deep in the shelter and told mothers with infant children in the shelter.

"Mothers and crying children should get out of the shelter, or mothers should kill the children."

For mothers, it was impossible to kill their own child.  They had no choice but to go out to the outside where shells were attacking like rain.

Japanese army never admitted though they had done horrible things.  I sometimes feel like smashing them until they die.

I heard a man named Kashima (army officer who stationed in Okinawa) is still alive.  I heard that he said,

"Japanese army protected our civilization and did not do anything wrong."

He is the very person who order the massive killing of Okinawan local people in Kume Island.

What on earth are these people thinking of Okinawan people?

There is no reserve for life.

Unbelievably, Japanese soldiers used Okinawa children as shields for protecting their own lives.

They themselves ran away leaving children as human shields.

I hate US military but at least they treated me with burns half of my body at the hospital.  That is why I am alive now.

If it was with the Japanese military, me who was heavily injured at the time should have been left alone.

I really feel like stamping on the rotten spirits of Japanese military!

Current politicians do not know how it was during the war and do not know the suffering of the people under the wars.

Mr. Shinzo Abe is now trying to stamp on the future generations.

However, we survived under the rain of shells.

So we would never want to be defeated.

But how?  There is no solution right now.

Therefore, I would like to have some words with Prime Minister Abe.

I had received no education, so I would like to pass my letter to Prime Minister Abe through a Diet member.

I would like to ask Prime Minister Abe.

You say, "I will protect the lives and properties of our people."

Then, why did you let the young Japanese hostages be killed?

How can a person who could not save even a single person's life declare, "I will protect the lives of our people"?

Please do not use the word, "I will protect the lives" without sense of reality.

(At the year of 15, Ms. Shimabukuro had burns half of her body due to the attack by the US.  Still she carried her heavily wounded mother who was about to be killed with injection in the US hospital on her injured back and fleed from the hospital to save her.  She managed to survive and her mother also lived until the age of 95 years old.)

There were many people who could not help their own families.

Even their own lives were at risk.
(Note: In the battle of Okinawa, more than the quarter of the Okinawan population were killed.)

I do not want to hear Mr. Abe say, "I will protect the people's lives" irresponsibly.

Politicians' words are too light and almost meaningless.  Maybe because the people living in this age are living with money.

In the time of Prime Minister Hatoyama's regime, I once stood in front of the riot police and a truck saying, "If you cannot talk with me, just kill me!"

I really do not understand why Okinawa should be killed twice.

End of Ms. Shimabukuro's talk

On November 20, 2014, Ms. Shimabukuro was carried by an ambulance during the sit-in and struggle with the riot police in front of the new Henoko US Base.

85 year old woman was forcibly displaced and injured with temporary unconsciousness

In the morning of November 20th, Ms. Fumiko Shimabukuro (85) was fell down when she was forced to move by the the Okinawan prefectural police and was carried to a hospital in Nago city.  She was unconscious at one time and diagnosed as having a blow at the temporal region on her head.

According to the witness cameraman Mr. Tomoyuki Toyosato (38), Ms. Shimabukuro was trying to stop the dump truck which was going into the new Henoko US base by grabbing the front mirror, but the riot police took her hands off the mirror and she fell down to the ground.

A female part-time worker who was also injured at the spot said with tears, "The police should have protected the old lady but instead, they were taking pictures of her lying on the ground.  How inhumane..."

Lawyer Toshiji Miyake who dashed to the spot said, "I would like to make an criminal accusation on this case after listening to Ms. Shimabukuro.  I would like to make the person pay some responsibility."

The prefectural police denied the allegation of falling her down and said, "A riot police found a woman falling down and they took her to a tent.  The police is acting so that there will be no trouble or injuries.  We will continue to keep safety."
